The Manager has 24 hour responsibility and accountability for the management of Perioperative Services and the Endoscopy department. They have to uphold the mission, vision, quality statement, and values of the organization and to serve as an example to all employees. The Manager integrates the primary functions of the organization into the departments while planning, directing, and coordinating ongoing services of these departments. They are responsible for the quality and quantity of service and for contributing to the organization's financial viability through effective resource management. The Manager performs assists with all human resource functions necessary to the management of departments. This position reports to the Perioperative Services Director.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum EducationGraduate of an accredited school of nursing. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) preferred. 
  • Minimum Work ExperienceMust have at least two years surgical experience. Previous charge RN experience is strongly preferred.

  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking. 
  • Lifting, pushing, pulling up to 35 pounds without assistive device. Pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds. 
  • Transferring, repositioning patients. 
  • Reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching for patient care functions. 
  • Ability to perform effectively in a stressful and fast-paced environment. 
  • Ability to pass all required health and other screening tests. 
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively and to respond to both written and/or verbal request. 
  • Visual acuity.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
 
Management of Department - Approves hiring of as well as transferring and termination of nursing personnel and completes PAFs and PRFs..Assures daily staffing function is sufficient to meet patient needs.Reviews budgetary and productivity reports. Explains variations and takes action to bring into established parameters.Assures that adequate inventory of supplies and equipment is maintained by nursing. Assures completion of performance appraisals for all staff in accordance with the organization's policy. Assures that measures are taken to deal successfully with emergency situations. When necessary, directly leads emergency actions. Acts as the administrative representative in the absence of the Perioperative Services Director. Performs other related duties as assigned. In the event of a disaster, activation of disaster plan.
 
Patient Care - Routinely observes patient care to assure that nursing care provided is consistent with the nursing standards of patient/resident care and the standards of nursing practice. Reviews incident reports to identify needed risk management activities at risk meetings. Enforces adherence to safety and infection control standards and policies in order to assure a safe environment for patients, staff and the public. Enforces patients rights, policies and procedures. Assures completion of performance appraisals for all nursing staff in accordance with the organization's policy. Ensures staff are adequately trained and maintains competencies.
